Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

History

The Chinese have been using facial acupuncture for many years to combat the signs of aging. It was being used as early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD-1070AD) when the Empress and Emperor’s concubines received cosmetic acupuncture to help maintain their youthful appearance.

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture is a popular and safe approach to looking and feeling good. It is a highly effective natural alternative to botox, surgery and microdermabrasion. It is not a facelift or replacement to surgery and has no negative side effects. It is safe, not as costly, virtually painless, it has no side effects, there is no risk of disfigurement, there is no trauma, or any period of recovery. Minor bleeding and localised bruising may occasionally after the needles have been removed. This is short term and does not indicate a negative reaction to the procedure.

When combined with constitutional treatment which treats the underlying causes of the individual’s aging process, it has a more profound effect than simply improving one’s appearance, thus helping you to look the very best you can.

What does it involve?

A full medical history is taken at the initial consultation and a Chinese medical diagnosis completed. We will then discuss what areas of the face you wish to focus on. Facial points are used in addition to minimal points on the body. If there are any underlying imbalances within the body it may be advised to have a constitutional treatment before the facial acupuncture commences.

This is a more holistic approach and the effects are more profound than simply improving one’s appearance. In addition to the insertion of very fine needles the following techniques may also be applied.

What are the benefits:

How many facial acupuncture treatments are required?

A programme of 10 sessions is recommended on a weekly basis, preferably twice a week. Each person responds differently, depending on his or her constitution and lifestyle, but usually the effects become most noticeable following the 7th session. Following the initial course of treatment, monthly maintenance sessions can be provided to prolong your results. Each session lasts approx 1 hour.
